You may have observed that noise can be described in many different ways. It can be distracting. It can be soothing. It can be joyful. It can be helpful. It can cause confusion. It can bring clarity.
Some sounds are very familiar. A household appliance making a whirling sound, a fine-tuned vehicle idling and ready to drive, a sigh as an expression of achievement, or even a grunt from anger and disgust.
Familiar or not, there are some days when a noise can’t be ignored. It sparks a series of questions that don’t have quick answers. It demands patience from both intuition and expertise.
What do you hear as we progress through 2020?
Are you hearing warnings? A call for balance? What do you hear, and how do you respond…. with action? Will your response based on what you know, believe, or value?
I hear “we’re all in this together.” Because we’re in “this” together we take safety precautions, we where masks, and follow PPE guidelines. These are all actions that we take to protect ourselves and others, right? These actions support the well-being of everyone.
If we continue to tune out the noise and distractions from the TV, what will we hear going forward? People are becoming more aware and therefore accountable for knowing that actions are needed to support the well-being of everyone.
What actions can we take next…. together? How can we improve education and employment? How will income and housing be balanced? Have you considered actions you can take to support the well-being of everyone or at the very least…. another one?
