The last blog touched on automation and the potential impacts of automation. It concluded by sharing the opinion that technology can never duplicate the human experience or human creativity. I posed the question: “What products, jobs, or services can be created or enhanced based on human creativity?” Continuing the thought…
Many industries are heavily driven by human creativity. These industries include music, film, art, writing, fashion, and dance. There is an industry that I believe is reliant on human creativity and has the potential to create jobs or supplemental income opportunities. This is the greeting card industry.
Greeting card companies are producing and packaging creativity to the tune of over 7 billion cards every year. What is unique about this industry is that it “requires” human creativity that cannot be replaced, and the products are intended to connect people through human experiences. These human experiences revolve around life, death, and celebrations; empathy and love are exchanged through the creative products of greeting card companies.
If you think about the opportunities that could be created, you may begin to see a line of freelance writers, editors, artists, designers, and photographers who are looking to contribute.
