Can We Raise Money with a Calendar?

by | Aug 1, 2018

Parent Teacher Associations are comprised of parents, teachers, and staff who organize to raise funds and help facilitate parent participation in different activities with students. The funds raised supplement the needs of students, teachers, and staff.

In 2017, we partnered with an elementary school to help raise funds through creating and selling a product that did not currently exist in the school district. The thought was to create a calendar that contributed to the culture of supporting diversity and inclusion within the school district. If you’ve ever been to a PTA meeting, then you know a good thought sparks great ideas. The ideas led to a calendar that had diversity facts, important school district calendar dates, varsity sports schedules for the high school, and ads from companies and people who wanted to show support for the elementary school.

We stepped those ideas forward into a product and then selected a printing vendor to partner with us on this leap. Our vendor of choice was Printing Center USA. We selected them based on reviews, pricing, and customer service.

Advertising and sales from the calendar led to a little over $1,500 raised. These funds were used by the school to create a shared plan to partner with CultureALL and create a Diversity Day at the school. CultureALL is the premier provider of cultural programming in Central Iowa. On Diversity Day students received the opportunity to experience and celebrate the similarities and differences of different cultures.

Funds raised supplemented the needs of students, teachers, and staff at Four Mile Elementary School.
